ARRIVAL TO-DAY

LORD AND LADY LOUIS MOUNTBATTEN MANY FUNCTIONS ARRANGED Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, G.C.V.0., K.C.8., D. 5.0., A.D.C., Supreme Allied Commander in SouthEast Asia, and Lady Mountbatten, D.C.V.0., C.8.E., will arrive at the Taieri Air Force Station from WellingUn at 11.45 a.m. to-day. They will be met by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) and will go to Wain's Hotel. At 3 p.m. Lord Louis Mountbatten will meet representatives of the Overseas L.eague and Royal Empire Society at the Somerset Lounge of the Savoy, and at 5 p.m. he will meet members of the Dunedin Returned Services’ Association at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall.

Lady Louis Mountbatten will visit the Montecillo Hospital at 2.55 p.m. and a guard of honour will be provided by the Red Cross V.A.D.’s. She will leave for the Neuro-surgical Ward of the Dunedin Hospital at 4.15 p.m., and on arrival at 4.25 p.m. will be received by Dr D. G. McMillan, chairman of the Otago Hospital Board, and Dr James Thomson, superintendent of the Dunedin Hospital. At 5.5 p.m. Lady Mountbatten will hold an inspection of St. John personnel in the First Church grounds. Lord and Lady Louis Mountbatten will be tendered a civic reception in the Main Town Hall at 8 p.m. They will leave for Christchurch to-morrow morning. The Mayor asks citizens to fly flags and bunting in honour of the distinguished visitors to the city.
