BOOKED TO CAPACITY
EVERY HOTEL IN SYDNEY THE EASTER HOLIDAYS (Rec. 9 p.m). SYDNEY', Mar. 29. New Zealanders intending to visit Sydney during Easter have now no prospect of obtaining accommdation if they have not already made arrangements. A careful check made this afternoon of all bureaux and accommodation authorities reveals that every hotel in Sydney and suburbs has been booked to capacity for Easter and a period of two weeks after. Hotel accommodation in this city has been severely taxed to meet the normal influx of travellers, and country people wishing to spend a few days in the city now make arrangements often months ahead. Owing to the shortage of housing and other permanent accommodation hotels are carrying a great many permanent guests who themselves are spending all their spare time in house hunting. The authorities have been forced to waive the regulations limiting the stay of persons ■ at hotels because of the seriousness of the position. Hotel managements report that staff, shortages, which compel them to limit accommodation in some cases, have shown no improvement during the past few months.
