THE WEATHER
MAINLY FAIR Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. . yesterday by the Meteorological office in Wellington:— Situation: A depression Is centred south of Southland and - extends its * influence throughout New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day: Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds; a few coastal showers, but the weather otherwise fair though cooler. Further Outlook: Fair to cloudy. Weather in Dunedin.—There w r as an improvement in the weather in Dunedin yesterday, but except for. brief periods o 1 sunshine, the 'skies were overcast, and light rain fell at night. Temperatures were mild, with a light north-east wind The barometer fell steadily, the rhidnighi reading being 29.59 inches (1002 millibars).
