FARMERS’ RESPONSE TO PETITION The petition organised by the Oamaru Wool for the retention of Oamaru as a wool appraisal centre, which was circulated to branches of the Federated Farmers, was reported at a meeting ot the Federated Farmers yesterday to nave been signed by 95 farmers in the district. There was no discussion on the report of tile delegate. Prior to the announcement of the number of signatories Mr A. McMillan, who was on the deputation to 'the Wool Disposal Commission in Wellington regarding the matter of the retention of the wool centre, said the idea had been found impracticable by the commission because of the lack of i accommodation, The deputation had put forward a strong case, and had made a point of Oamarh having 10,000 bales to value, which would mean 10,000 fewer in Dunedin.
