DAVIS CUP TENNIS
VENUE OF ZONE FINAL INTEREST TO DOMINION ' ■ MELBOURNE, (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) • Mar. 28. Although preliminary arrangements will be made to stage the inter-zone final of the Davis Cup competition in Sydney, it is more likely to be played in the United States, according to information received by Mr Harry Hopman. His sources of information are Maurice Blein, editor of a Paris sporting paper, and Walter Pate, United States captain in 1935 and 1939. New Zealand is the only entrant in the Pacific zone, and therefore is the winner in that zone. The decision as to where the inter-zone final is to be played means much to New Zealand. If it is in Sydney, then the United States might agree to play the North American zone versus Pacific zone tie in New Zealand on the way to Sydney. If it is in the United States, then New Zealand must send a team there.
