POST OFFICE HOURS

WEEK-END SORTING OF MAILS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. It was stated by an official of the Post and Telegraph Department to-day that if Post Office employees receive a 40-hour five-day week first-class mail will be sorted by a minimum staff on Saturdays and Sundays and private boxes will receive mail as usual over the week-ends. Second-class mail, which was not handled on Sundays, would probably not be sorted on Saturdays under a five-day week, and it was possible that the household delivery of mails on Saturdays would be discontinued. Discussions on this matter were proceeding.
