RETURNS FROM EMPLOYERS AVAILABILITY OF LABOUR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. Half-yearly returns are required from employers in general industries and in the building and construction industry and monthly returns are required from employers in seasonal industries under the* provisions of regulations which were gazetted to-night. The returns, for which there will be prescribed forms, are to give the typo of main production, the total of employees, males and females, the amount paid in wages in ordinary time and overtime, and comments on any marked increases or decreases in employment and the reasons for any necessity to work short time. The director of employment or any district employment officer may require an employer to furnish particulars as to the number and class of workers likely to be engaged during any specified period or whose employment has been or is likely to be terminated. For the purpose of obtaining any Information in relation to any subsidy paid-by the Crown under the Employment Act passed last year, any officer of the National Employment Service wi]th the authority of the director may inspect any books, records, or documents and require their production in acceptable form. Failure to comply with the provisions of the regulations is punishable by a fine not exceeding £25.
