FAMINE EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN

In view of the world-wide shortage of rood which threatens millions of people in Europe, India, and South Africa with starvation, the Government of New Zealand has decided to carry out a Domin-ion-wide campaign to save food. In order that this campaign may be conducted promptly and effectively, it is necessary to set up committees throughout the Dominion. and a central committee has already been formed in Wellington. With the object of forming a Local Famine Emergency Committee, a meeting of all interested has been called for 8 p.m. oil Monday next in the Borough Council* Chambers, when it is hoped that there will be a large and representative attendance. The need is urgent and vital, and it is confidently expected that the people of North Otago will respond to this appeal as generously as they have to others in the past.
