OTAGO DEFEATS CANTERBURY (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 7. The surprise win of the second day’s play in the New Zealand women’s interprovincial baseball tournament was Otago’s defeat of Canterbury by nine runs. Canterbury so far has not played up to expectations, while Manawatu seems to be at the peak of its form. In the Senior B Grade, Manawatu is leading, with Canterbury in second place. With one game to play, the Canterbury juniors are in an unassailable position, having won the New Zealand Junior Championship. Results: — Senior Grade Manawatu 18, Otago 6; Canterbury 19, South Canterbury 8; Manawatu 32, South Canterbury 3; Otago 15. Canterbury 6.
