CONTROL NOTICES
REVOCATION ANNOUNCED SCRAP RUBBER, .KAPOC, AND PLATING SALTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 7. Announcing jthe revocation of the Scrap Rubber Control Notice, 1942, tonight, the Minister of Supply and Munitions, Mr D. G. Sullivan, paid a tribute to the service rendered to the war effort of New Zealand by the National Council for the Reclamation of Waste Material. The scrap rubber control notice prohibited the use or the destruction of scrap rubber, said Mr Sullivan, and measures were taken to institute a national drive for the collection of scrap rubber. In this work the national council did a splendid job and many thousands of tons of rubber were salvaged and made available to manufacturers for reclaim. The Minister also announced the revocation of the Kapoc Control Notice, 1942, and the Plating Control Notice. 1942. “With the liberation of the East Indies,” the Minister said, “it is anticipated that in the near future supplies of Java kapoc will again be available, and it is now indicated that the reserve stocks of kapoc previously held against the service demands can, after making adequate provision for hospital requirements, be released for normal civilian use. “ Since the cessation of hostilities in Europe and the gradual resumption of normal production,” Mr Sullivan added, “ the factory controller has endeavoured to assist manufacturers by extending the list of perntiitted uses for plating materials, and (it is now felt that in view of the Reasonably satisfactory stock position, the few remaining restrictions upon the use of plating salts under the control notice may be lifted.”
