GRAND THEATRE
“ The Body Snatcher." which heads the bill which commenced a season at the Grand Theatre yesterday, is a drama of gripping intensity starring Boris Karloff. The film is the screen version of Robert Louis Stevenson's famous story. With Edinburgh it: the early part of the nineteenth century as a background, the story deals with the subject of Scottish doctors being compelled to deal with grave robbers and murderers in order to obtain bodies for dissection and study for the advancement of medical and surgical knowledge. Karloff gives an interesting character study, and be brings to it all the light and shade, it requires. Prominent in the supporting cast are Henry Daniell, Bela Lugosi, Edith Atwater, and Russell Wade. Featured on the programme with “ The Body Snatcher ” is a western film, “West o; the Pecos," with Robert Mitcham and Barbara Hale in the leading roles. Humour and romance are combined in this film, which deals with the lawless days in the west before the turn of the century.
