DEMONSTRATIONS IN MADRID

MADRID, Feb. 17. Demonstrations occurred in Madrid last night on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the elections which brought in the Popular Front in 1936. Leaflets were distributed in the streets and inside kinemas stating: “Spaniards! Remember the triumph of the democratic parties in the Spanish election of 1936. Long live the republic.” , Young men held counter-demonstra-tions in the streets, 3000 to 4000 shouting, “ Franco! Franco! ”
