It was decided that the Otago team to take part in the New Zealand championships at Napier should leave by the 8.45 a.m. express on Tuesday. The - championships will be held from February 22 to February 26. Advice was received from the Hawke’s Bay Centre that Mr W. A. It was reported that the date for the interprovincial contest between Otago and Southland, at Invercargill, wdbld not be fixed until the lifting of the restrictions imposed because of the infantile paralysis outbreak, but in the meantime it was agreed to submit April 7 to the Southland Centre as the tentative date. A decision regarding the holding of the country clubs’ championship meeting at Oamaru and of a re-arrange-ment of dates for learn to swim campaigns in the country districts was held in abeyance until the restrictions were lifted. Permission was granted Miss Ngaire, Lane, the New Zealand women’s backstroke champion, to compete at the East .Christchurch Club’s carnival on February 28. The centre approved of March 25 as the date for a swimming carnival in aid of funds for‘the erection of a swimming baths at the Caversham School. It was reported that competitors would forego prizes. The Kiwi Club was granted permission to make preliminary inquiries regarding the prospects of Miss Ngaire Lane being invited to appear in Australia next season.
