PORTABLE ELECTRIC TOTALISATOR
OAMARU TROTTING CLUB’S ACTION (Special) OAMARU, Feb. 13. At a meeting of the Oamaru Trotting 0!)ub, the president (Mr J. Farrell) was appointed to attend a meeting of representatives from all Canterbury, South Canterbury, and North Otago trotting, jockey, and hunt clubs, to meet and discuss with a representative of Standard Telephones and Cables, Ltd., the matter of a portable electric totalisator, which, if purchased, could be used by all country clubs in those districts. The meeting will be held in Timaru. Alterations and improvements to the stewards’ stand and amenities, as agreed to bv the Oamaru Jockey Club, were approved to be proceeded with immediately. The committee approved the use of the course and equipment by the Kurow Jockey Club for its meeting at Oamaru on April 13. Accounts amounting to £297 4s 5d were passed for payment. It was expected that a visit would be received next week from the president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference (Mr H. F. Nicoll) and the vice-president of the New Zealand Trotting Association (Mr B. McCarthy), when they would be met and entertained by members of the Trotting Club committee.
