OCTAGON THEATRE
One of the gayest screen offerings for some considerable time is said to be “ The Princess and the Pirate,” a production in technicolor, whicn will nave its premiere at the Octagon Theatre to-morrow. The scene is laid in the middle of the eighteenth century, and a sparkling plot deals with the hilarious adventures of Sylvester the Great, a cautious actor, wilo, en route for the West Indies, is captured along with the beautiful Princess Margaret by a band of bloodthirsty buccaneers led by The Hook, the most ferocious pirate of the Spanish Main, in a spectaular sea fight. Bob Hope’s portrayal of Sylvester is equal to anything he has accomplished, while Virginia Mayo is charming and delightful as the lovely princess. Brilliant performances are given by Walter Slezak. Walter Brennan, and Victor McLaglen as the black-hearted Hook. One of the most humorous sequences in the film is when Sylvester, disguised as the pirate, attempts to take command of the buccaneer vessel.
