The wethers forward were confined principally to medium descriptions, with only two consignments of heavy grades, but (he lighter sheep included one or two consignments of outstanding 'two-tooths, which sold up to 425. Ewes, apart from one consignment of young sheep, were mostly aged descriptions and showed no change in values. Quotations:—Extra prime heavy wethers,, to 43s 6d; prime heavy, 36s 9d .to 40s 9d; medium, 32s 9d to 37s 3d; and light, down to 265; extra prime heavy maiden ewe 3, to 335; extra prime heavy, 25s 6d; prime heavy, 21s to 235; medium, from 19s to 20s 6d; and light, down to 15s 6d. Fat Lambs.—There was a larger penning in this section, including one or two outstanding consignments t but generally the offering was confined to medium sorts, with odd pens of very light descriptions. For lambs suitable to the trade there was keen competition, and exporters operated at the increased schedule rates, a very firm sale resulting. Quotations: Extra prime heavy lambs sold to 37s 9d; prime, 32s 6d to 365; medium, 27s to 30s; and light down to 235. Store Cattle.—An average yarding was submitted to auction in this section. A feature of the entry was an outstanding consignment of fat and forward four-year-old Shorthorn bullocks which, under keen competition, sold from £l3 12s 6d to £lB. Lines of younger steers met a dull market, and sales were difficult to effect. Vcalers were forward in larger numbers, and lower prices resulted. The usual assortment of graiier and boner cows sold' at full late rates. Fat Pigs.—A small entry of 60 was forward. There was an improvement in values of from 7s to 10s per head. Best baconers sold to £8 13s and porkers to £6 2s. Store Pigs.—There was a smaller entry, which resulted in an improvement over the slacker prices which have been ruling at late markets, a rise of fully 10s per head being recorded. Dairy Cows.—There was a small entry of dairy cows. Cows close to profit sold to £l2 7s 6a.
