MATCH AGAINST SOUTH CANTERBURY (PA.) TIMARU, Jan. 7. There was only 27 minutes’ play in the representative cricket match, Southland v. South Canterbury, which was begun this morning. Winning the toss, Southland batted on a fast pitch, losing one wicket for 24 runs. Rain then caused the abandonment of play for to-day. The match will be continued tomorrow morning.
