TENT CATCHES FIRE

SCOUTS SUFFER BURNS Three boy member's of a Scout troop suffered burns about the arms and legs when their tent caught fire late on Monday night at their camp at Rimuroa, in the Gisborne district. They were Peter Dahm, aged 11. of Gisborne. Ivan English, aged about 12, of Gisborne, and John Cowan, aged about 12. of Hexton. Four boys were asleep in the tent when it caught fire, and it was burning furiously before one awakened and gave the alarm. One boy was sleeping soundly, and had to be more or less dragged out. It is believed that the children went to sleep with a candle burning. The injured boys were taken across the Waimata 'River in stretchers and conveyed lo the Cook Hospital bycar.
