The victory of Sea Born added to the fine record of the Bryce family in the Auckland Trotting Cup. He was driven by J. Bryce, who won the race in 1943, in which year two Cup contests were held, with Shadow Maid. J. Bryce, sen., won in 1915 with Cathedral Chimes, and in 1920 with Man. o’ War. His last success was in 1927 with Ahuriri. A. Bryce scored with Man o’ War in 1921 and with Gold Jacket in 1928 and 1929.
