JAPANESE HOSPITAL ‘ SHIPS TOKIO, Dec. 21. ‘Explaining the loss of 19 Japanese hospital ships during the war, Major Kei Shinohara, formerly chief of hospital ’transport, said the authorities failed properly to identify them, and refused to transmit their names to the Allies. They stationed hospital ihips among combat vessels in action, and often used them as armed transsaid most of the ships lost w-u-e being used as transports when junk. None was lost through Allied violation of the rules of warfare.
