ULTRA-LIGHT CAR
71 MILES TO THE GALLON LONDON, Dec. 6. An ultra-light car, designed by the French engineer M. Gregoire, is to be manufactured and sold in England. Production is about to begin, and it is anticipated that it will be sold at a price considerably below those prevailing in this country. The design throughout is advanced. One of the original features is the use of aluminium alloy for all the main members of the chassis, offering economy in production costs and a good power-weight ratio. With a four-seater saloon body the car weighs only 8001 b. The engine is a two-cylinder air-cooled unit, which, with 594 cubic capacity, is rated at four horse-power. It is claimed that the petrol consumption is 71 miles to the gallon, and that a speed of 60 miles an hour can be attained. The patent rights of the design have been acquired by Mr Denis Kendall, M.P. for Grantham, of Grantham Productions, Ltd. Mr R. H. Coverley, for 36 years with Rolls Royce, Ltd., has joined him in an advisory capacity.
