LIKELY TO RESUME

THE STRIKING MINERS OFFICIALS OPTIMISTIC PREPARATION OF FIELDS (Rec. 1 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. IS. Resumption of work by the miners on Monday is stated authoritatively to-night to be absolutely certain, according to present indications. The official non-miner opinion is so optimistic that a start is to be made at once with the preparation of fields for normal work. The Ironworkers’ Union issued a statement to-night: “ The State Council of the union authorised re-registration in the Industrial Commission if circumstance arose making re-regis-tration ‘ the major issue.’ ” The decision was unanimous. Senator W. P. Ashley will visit Newcastle to-morrow and hold a conference with the unions concerned with a view to reaching a permanent settlement of that dispute.
