GERMAN SCIENTISTS
ENTRY INTO UNITED STATES ASSISTANCE TO INDUSTRY (Rec. 0.20 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 12. Over 1500 German scientists and technicians have been quietly streaming into the United States in the past five months to help American industry exploit the processes, inventions, and manufacturing secrets discovered by Allied agents after Germany’s surrender, says the - New York HeraldTribune. It is understood the War Department invited the. scientists for the purpose of acquainting the army and navy with German developments and ideas in war weapons. However, several other Government agencies, including “She Foreign Economic Administration, tne War Production Board, and the Department of the Interior, have enlisted the scientists’ services in various industrial lines. Foreign Economic Administration officials said the Germans developed formulae for plastics and electro-chemical processes hitherto unknown in the United States, and also new processes for the manufacture of high octane 'petrol, synthetic rubber, and metal alloys. A number of German scientists has gone to Russia and England, but it is understood the United States obtained the oest technological brains.
