POLICE DISCONTENT
IMPROVED CONDITIONS SOUGHT SUPPORT FOR MOVEMENT (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 12. A unanimous decision, that the Cnristchurch branch of the New Zealand Police Association wholeheartedly support the endeavours being made by branches of the association in other parts of the Dominion to bring about an improvement in the general working conditions of the members of. the force, was made at a meeting of- the Christchurch branch held to-day. There was an attendance of 100 memA report issued after the meeting quoted the various resolutions carried and- said: “ It is obvious from the feeling of the meeting that strong discontent exists in the local districts. The meeting considers that improvements in the working conditions are necessary, Twelve men have recently tendered their resignations in this district and most of these have considerable service in the force, one being a senior detective with 27 years’ service.” Expressions of loyalty both to the Government and to the officers of the department were given at the meeting.
