CENTRAL OTAGO SERVICE

Sir',—l see in the press that Central Otago people are to have a daily passenger train from December 17 to January 12, but I sincerely trust that this train service will be continued permanently. We have put up with a lot of inconvenience during the war, but I now consider our due is a daily passenger service. The distance between Dunedin and Cromwell is 155 miles and I would say that there is no other railway line of this length in New Zealand that is restricted to one passenger train every second day. If a shortage of coal is the hold-up I suggest that an extra man be employed as I feel sure one. man-would hew sufficient coal in a day -to propel a train 155 miles. I trust other Interested residents will take up this matter also.— I am, etc., Old Resident. Central Otago", December 12.
