AGA KHAN SELLS STARDUST

RECORD PRICE FOR STALLION BOMBAY, Dec. 11. The Aga Khan sold Stardust for the record price of £112,000 and his son, Prince Aly Khan, sold Tehran for £IOO,OOO. This was revealed by the Aga Khan in a letter to the Bombay Chronicle replying to criticism of the price of 28,000 guineas paid by the Maharajah Gaekwar of Baroda for Dante’s brother at the Newmarket sale. Stardust was bought as a yearling in 1938 for 1450 guineas and went to the stud in 1940. He has been very successful, siring many winners, including eight out of 15 races last season. The Aga Khan said the figures showed that ' buying bloodstock was a legitimate speculation. Stardust was bought by a British syndicate. There were 40 shares of £2BOO each. Stardust will remain with the Gilltown Stud, Ireland.
