“BRITISH INJUSTICE”

BETRAYAL ALLEGED NEW YORK, Oct. 1. The mass meeting in Madison Square Garden, which was sponsored by the Zionist Emergency Council, sent a message to the British .Ambassador, Lord Halifax, declaring that Jews will not continue to suffer British injustice silently. The British Government bore a great share of the responsibility for the Jewish tragedy in Europe. A cable message was also sent to Mr Attlee expressing the deepest protest and indignation at the continuing policy of cruelty and betrayal displayed bv the British Government towards the Jewish national home. The meeting demanded that Mr Attlee permit free, unrestricted immigration to Palestine and establish Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth. Mr La Guardia said: “I would like to remind my good friend, Lord Halifax, who in a speech to the American people indicated that he wanted to borrow money for his Government, that the best way to establish credit is to convince people that the borrower knows how to keep his word.” He added that President Truman should insist that Britain keep her Palestine pledges. Immediate action was necessary to solve the problem of Jews in Europe.
