DEFEATED GERMANY
MUST FEED HERSELF MONTGOMERY’S DECLARATION (Rec. 9 p.m) LONDON, Oct. 2. Field-marshal Montgomery, in an introductory message to the first number of the British Zone Review, writes: “ The defeated enemy must be made to put his house in order and learn to feed himself. He must also be made to pay lor the war. He must be first raised to his feet and made to work in such a way that he will be able not only to liquidate his own debts, but also find his own salvation. We shall try to be wise conquerors, and to be as just in peace as we were strong in battle.”
