Jottings Acceptances for,the Dunedin Jockey Club’s spring meeting are due to-day. Handicaps for the Gore Racing Club's meeting are due on Tuesday, October 9.

Nominations for the Wellington meeting are due to-day. Forfeits for the Wellesley Stakes and the Wellington Guineas are also due.

One of the latest additions to the Francolin family l is the (yearling filly by Nizami. She has been named Super Flight. Kaitoa, the winner of the Lowry Memorial Handicap at Hawke's Bay, was got by Man’s Pal from Satisfy, the winner of the McLean Stakes in 1929.

Although Lance Wing dropped out of his engagement at Wingatui on Saturday, the Irish Lancer gelding has been moving pleasingly in his work.

Milton Abbas, who made a bold showing at Wingatui on Saturday, proved to be something in the nature of a resurrection, as he has been off the winning list since the Wingatui spring meeting of 1942. Major Argosy drew 21 at the post for the President’s Handicap and got a bad run on the outside of the field. Forage, who was awarded first place in the Hunters’ Flat, was got by Night Raid—Follow On, by Lord War-den-Belle of New York, by All Red— Helianthes, by Finland—Clytie, by Phaeton, a son of Trenton.

Not in Racing Shape The Dunedin Guineas candidate Tenor Royal, who ran in the President’s Handicap, is a shapely colt, but at present is not in racing shape. Alpine Injured Alpine was kicked on a stifle by a stable mate when being led off the course at Wingatui. This accounts for his absence on Saturday. Master Meruit's Brother

Mr H. H. Dods, of Gisborne, is sending to W. D. Young, at Hastings, a full brother to the Wellington and Grand National Steeplechase winner, Master Meruit. It is reported that the newcomer is a better type -of horse than his well-performed relative. Boolamskce’s Weight

In the Hunters’ Flat Boolamskee was giving Forage 191 b. In the Wakari Hurdles the margin is increased to 291 b. In some quarters Boolamskee was considered unlucky to miss a win in the Grand National Hurdles. “ Pins and Needles! ”

One of Sydney’s biggest punters had not backed a winner in the first six races at a recent meeting. “ What are you on,” he was asked before the last. “ Pins and needles,” he snapped: The Cup Meeting The New Zealand Cup meeting will be spread over three consecutive Saturdays. This will mean a heavy expense for owners who sent their horses from the different training centres in both islands. It would be greatly appreciated by all concerned if the restrictions were eased to permit one of the days to be held in the middle of the week. Smart Youngster

The Salmagundi Francolin filly Special Flight showed in the parade at Wingatui on Saturday that she inherits the family gift of galloping displayed by her relatives —Night Wings, Ortyx, Dark Flight, Gold Flight, Winning Flight, and Royal Flight. Jockey’s Record C. Emerson has put up a record in connection with the McLean Stakes that will take some beating. He won on Nones in 1914, Meteorite in 1920, Top Score in 1922, Count Cavour in 1923, Childsplay in 1927. Aspiring in 1928, and Satisfy in 1929. Emerson owed his success to alertness and knowing how to get a horse away smartly in a sprint race. In fact, the first race he ever won was the Publicans' Handicap in 1909 on San Seven, when he beat the barrier and led all the way. Nomenclature

Mr W. Swale, of Centre Bush, has registered several of his young horses. Rhine Lord is the name given a three-year-old gelding by Siegfried from Winsome Sister (the dam of Royal Lancer and Invulnerable), and a two-year-old full-sister will be known as Heroic Girl. A three-year-old gelding by Siegfried from Lumiere has been named Luminous Knight, and a yearling sister by Siegfried has been called Narrow View. Over Fences

Prince Dolomite has shaped well in some recent schooling over the steeplechase fences at Riccarton, and present plans are to give him his first race in the Onehunga Steeplechase at Ellerslie next month. Prince Dolomite, a brother to Rockery, is one of the most improved horses in work at Riccarton. His trainer, E. Rosewarne, deserves every credit (says the Press) for bringing him up to his present standard. The gelding is capable of winning important races if he could be depended on to drop his old habit of dwelling at the barrier rise. He has developed into a fast and clean jumper, and the light fences at Ellerslie should not worry him.
