FAITH IN GENERAL MacARTHUR
CANBERRA, Sept. 28. “ If this country lacks confidence in General MacArthur then it is guilty of base ingratitude,” said the Prime Minister, Mr J. B. Chifley, commenting on complaints that the British Empire was insufficiently represented in Japan. “No man has carried out his job or kept his word better than General MacArthur. He has done a great job for this country, which has never had a better friend. I have great faith in his judgment. The splendid relationship that existed between Australians and Americans was inspired by him and went right down the line.”
