GROWING UNDERSTANDING ITALIAN MINISTER’S HOPES (Rec. 7 p.m.) ROME, Sept. 28. The Italy Foreign Minister, Signor de Gasperi, who returned from a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers in London, said he considered the situation as relatively favourable for Italy, although n definite agreement has not been reached. “ Something has been achieved,” he said, “ and another step taken towards .an understanding of the whole situation, in particular, of Veneziagiula. I told the conference that we are pursuing a policy of work, and considered the Italian colonies a possible outlet for this. We were treated with friendliness in London. Naturally there is still some bitterness, but we must consider that there has been a war. There is a growing understanding of our difficulties and problems.” Two Million Unemployed Milan radio says that according to the Ministerial Committee of Reconstruction, unemployment in Italy is expected to reach 2,000,000 in the next few months.
