HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN
OPENED BY LADY NEWALL An appeal to all to support the National Health Stamp campaign was made by her Excellency Lady Newall in a broadcast address in which she officially opened the campaign last night. The new health stamps, which will be on sale from to-day, bear the figure of Peter Pan, the symbol of happy, healthy childhood, Lady Newall said, and the proceeds from the sale of the stamps were devoted to the maintenance of the permanent health camps at Nelson, Gisborne, Roxburgh, Christchurch, and Otaki, and the parttime camp at Invercargill, where children were given the benefit of fresh air. sunshine, balanced diet, and healthful exercise, and received training in good habits. Health of body, mind, and spirit was developed in the health camps. Lady Newall said, and the health of the children was the corner stone of the future health of the population of the country. She expressed the hope that in this year, her last in New Zealand, the campaign would produce astronomical figures so that the great work being done could be extended still further.
