TERRIBLE POSSIBILITIES

ATOMIC BOMB ATTACKS DESTRUCTION OF CITIES WASHINGTON, Sept. 24. A super atomic bomb has been developed which would make the Hiroshima bomb look like a small firecracker, Representative L. C. Arends told the House of Representatives. “It is already possible to drop atomic charges on our large cities and kill millions of unsuspecting inhabitants in one operation, hence tfie world's most dangerous spots are Washington, New York, and other large American cities,” he said. “ Therefore labour management must henceforth be considered an important part in national defence, and within a decade the United States must make far-reaching changes in decentralising cities and industries.” Representative Arends introduced a Bill to establish a commission composed of scientists, industrial research experts, and other leading citizens to study revisions in national defence necessitated by the atomic bomb and other “ diabolical inventions of war.”
