WANAKA
INDOOR BASKETBALL An indoor basketball tournament arranged by the Wanaka Club was held in the Wanaka Hall ’on Friday night. Tli* tournament proved very successful, tft* competing teams being from Tarras. Queenstown. Hawea, and Wanaka. The women's section was won by Tarris, which defeated Queenstown by G points to 4 after a very interesting game. The finalists in the men's section were two Wanaka teams, and the game was so closcny contested that two additional three-minute spells had to be played before “ Springboks ” eventually defeated " Rovers ” by 12 points to 10. BIBLE CLASS SOCIAL The Quienstown and Wanaka Bible classes combined for a social evening in the Luggate Hall last Wednesday evening. An enjoyable time was spent with games and competitions after which supper was served. Visitors were also present from Luggate and Hawea. GUILD AND PAV.M.U. The monthly meeting of St. Andrew’s Guild and P.W.M.U. was held at Mrs Umbers’s residence last Wednesday afternoon. when Mrs Mulligan presided. Articles were brought for the forthcoming bring-and-buy sale, and stall-holders were appointed for the sale, which will be held next month. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Umbers and Sinclair. GOLF The following are the results of the weekly golf competitions, played on Saturday;—Women’s Medal Match —First round championship: Mrs Harris 78—5—73, Mrs Scaife 104—32—72. Mrs Ifalliday 97 19—78. Mrs Paterson 94 —15—79, Mrs Morris 95—13—82, Mrs Anderson 89—6—83. Men’s senior championship: W. Ironside beat F. Jackson 7 And 6, J. Perrow beat A. Wilson 6 and 5. Men's junior championship: G. Morris beat E. Richmond 7 and 5. L. Milne beat W. Milligan 2 up, L. Robertson beat W. Rickerby 1 up.
