MEN'S BASKETBALL
THIRD GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPLETED The final match of the Men’s Basketball Association’s Third Grade war-time championships were played on Tuesday night, the Y.M.C.A. Club adding another championship to its list through the success of the Union team, which scored a total of 34 points, having suffered only one defeat in 18 matches. Wakari, Y.M.C.A. Boys, and Training College tied for second place with 28 points; then came Sea Cadets 14, A.T.C. A 12, A.T.C B, Air Force C, and Air Force D with 10 points each. The Cookham House Cup Handicap competition for First and Second Grades has been advanced another stage, University B, Y.M.C.A. A, and Y.M.C.A. B being the holders of two lives, while St Kilda, Anglican, and Y.M.C.A. Residents have one life each. Training College lias now been eliminated. The following Cookham House matches have been arranged for to-night:—7.3o, St. Kilda v. Anglican (Messrs Hanna and McGregor); 8 o’clock, University B v. Y.M.C.A. Boys A (Messrs McGregor and Hanna); 8.30, Y.M.C.A B v. Y.M.C.A. Residents (Messrs Griffiths and Wheeler); 9 o’clock, Y.M.C.A. B v. winner of 7.30 match (Messrs Griffiths and Wheeler); (9.30, winner 8.30 match v. loser 8 o’clock match (Messrs Hanna and Griffiths). Matches played recently resulted as follows: —Third Grade: Wakari 40, A.T.C. B 12; Y.M.C.A. Boys 18, Training College 13. Cookham House Cup matches: St. Kilda 70, Training College 49; University B 73, Training College 70; University B 50, Y.M.C.A. Residents 48.
