BRIGADE NOTES Competitions.—Senior competitions will bo held on October 13 on the Caledonian Ground or. if wet. in the Drill Hall, ft has been deckled t.o extend the competitions to include the Southland district and three entries have already been received from Invercargill. It has also been decided to permit individual entries for the individual rolled bandage trophy and to permit superintendents and also members of nursing divisions to compete for this trophy as distinct from the team contests for the roller bandage cup. Dunedin Nursing Division—The V.A. commandant recently visited this division and presented the certificates won in nutrition examinations. The division also combined with the North-East Valley and Caversham Divisions for a most interesting lecture by Dr Bruce on the cause of heart, failure. Members of the division, following a suggestion by a patient, are visiting soldier patients in hospital whose homes are not in Dunedin. The division is to be commended on this work. Comforts are distributed by members. Kaikorai and Women’s Transport Divisions.—Members of the division recently formed a guard of honour at the marriage of Mr J. S. Macdonald, of the Kaikorai Division, and also at that of Miss A. Peters, of the Women's Transport Division. The division held a combined practice in preparation for the re-exam-ination, and Superintendent G. H. Woodhouse dealt with fractures, insensibility, and poisons. Elliott, divisional superntendent, Women's Transport Division; Miss D. Parker, ambulance officer, Women's Transport Division; Miss M. Bamford, sergeant, Women’s Transport Division; Miss E. Pryde, corpora], Women’s Transport Division; J. A. Beriand, divisional secretary, Port Chalmers Ambulance Division; Miss J. S. R. Dickinson, divisional secretary, Edith Caveil Nursing Division; A. K. Holmes, cadet corporal, Dunedin Cadet Ambulance Division. Patroness of Nursing Divisions. —It is pleasing to note that the commandery commissioner has approved the appointment of Mrs L. E. Barclay to the position of patroness rendered vacant by the death of Lady Ferguson. Mrs Barclay has long been associated with the brigade til rough her husband, the late Lieutenantcolonel G. Barclay.
