ADMIRALTY CIVIL LORD

FORMER LOWER DECK RATING (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. The Civil Lord of the Admiralty, Mr W. J. Edwards, according to the Sunday Express, was a stoker on a warship. He represents Whitechapel and is the first sailor from the lower deck to hold political office in the Admiralty. He has been a popular backbencher and is now entitled to a general salute when he steps on a quarter deck.
