Hr W. Gillies (vice-president of the North Otago Automobile Association), at the monthly meeting of the executive, made refere'nce to the death of Mr D. H. Thomson, who, he said, had been an outstanding president of the association. Mr Thomson had given yeoman service not only to the association, but also to other institutions and the community, for many years: A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives. Motions of sympathy were also passed with Mrs Duncan in the death of Mr J. S. Duncan, a’former president of the association and one of the early members, and with Mr IT.. A. Murison, in the death of his father. Mr S. T. Pinder, who resigned from the office of treasurer of the St. Luke’s Scout group, was elected a life’ member of the committee at the annual meeting on Monday night. Mr K„ A. Slater stated that Mr Pindrr had been a prominent member of the committee for the last 19 years, and he had carried out his duties as treasurer with credit to himself and to the benefit of the group.
