MORNINGTON BAPTIST CHURCH

WELCOME SOCIAL A welcome to Mr and Mrs Trevor Gibbs, who recently returned on furlough from service with the China Inland Mission, was given at a pleasant function held at the Mornington Baptist Church on Tuesday evening. The secretary, Mr Wilkinson, welcomed the guests of the evening on behalf of the church. Bouquets were presented to Mrs Gibbs by Mrs Lonsdale (from the Baptist ministers’ wives) and by Mrs Walker (from the ladies of the church). , . „ Messages of welcome were also delivered by Mr E. C. Brown (Baptist auxiliary of Otago), Mr Bycroft (Sunshine Baptist Church). Mr G. Buckley (China Inland Mission), and the Rev. E. C. Walsh (Mornington Presbyterians). Mr and Mrs Gibbs responded to the many messages of welcome, and assured members, of their desire to be of the utmost service to their church. Musical items were' given by the choir, and by Mrs Boyd-Wilson and Miss Hepburn and Mrs H. Barnes Opportunity was also taken to i™te presentations to the Rev. Mr and Mrs Ings. Mr Warnock acknowledged the valuable service which the guests had rendered to the church and to individual members during the 16 months in which the church had been without a regular minister. Mrs Taverner presented a bouquet to Mrs Ings from the ladies of the church. Mr and Mrs Ings suitably replied. The serving of supper brought a pleasant evening to a close.
