WHARF WORK

REDUCTION OF HOURS ADOPTION BY DUNEDIN UNION The Dunedin waterside workers, at their monthly stop-work meeting yesterday morning, decided to follow the Auckland Union’s lead in regard to Saturday afternoon and Sunday night shift work. The decision will come into effect this week-end. The Auckland waterside workers resolved at a stop-work meeting on Tuesday that they would not work on Saturday afternoons, and that they would work night shifts and on Sundays only on overseas food ships loading for the United Kingdom and, during the present emergency, on coal ships. In cases of emergency employers could apply to the local union executive for permission to work ships.
