COLD AND SHOWERY Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— _ Situation.—There is a deep depression south of the Chathams and an anti-cyclone over the Tasman. Forecast up to 5 p.m. To-day.— South-westerly winds; weather changeable with wintry showers, but some fair intervals; temperatures very cold, with snow on the hills. Further Outlook.—Similar conditions. Weather in Dunedin.—A cold southerly wind prevailed yesterday, and there was intermittent sunshine. Temperatures reached a minimum of 30deg and the barometer rose slowly throughout the day to 30.15 inches (1021 millibars) at midnight.
