Braemar House ex-girls are reminded of the reunion in the CKago Pioneer Women’s Rooms on Friday evening. In future khaki berets will be worn by members of the W.A.A.C. The beret, which is similar to the Air Force beret, has a head band of leather, and the W.A.A.C. badge is worn on the left. It is hoped that the issue to all members of the service will be completed shorlly. The felt hats issued some time ago may still be used, but the glengarry caps are being recalled.. The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. held a successful afternoon tea concert on Wednesday. It was arranged by Mrs Ernest Drake. The president, Mrs E. Aslin, was in the chair, and welcomed the Mayoress, Mrs D. C. Cameron, and a large gathering of friends, who showed warm appreciation of the items, which were exceptionally well rendered. Tlie artists were Mesdames Wcotton, Edgar Smith, Barrow, Misses Blanche Errington, Margaret Woodcock, Elsie Kirkland, and Mr Bryan Drake. Master Bill Dowie gave a violin solo, and Miss Winnie Dowie elocutionary items.
The Bridge Circle of the Otago Women’s Club held an enjoyable card evening in the club rooms oh Wednesday, May 16. There were 28 tables, and many donations were sent in. In the absence of Mrs G. W. Reid, the chairwoman, Mrs G. F. McKellar, and Mrs A. J. H. Gregory acted for her. Prizes given by members were won by Mrs M. Findlay, Mrs E. Aslin and Mrs E. M, Holmes. The Circle will have over £4O to give to the club’s forthcoming All Purposes patriotic contribution.
The Dunedin Citizens’ Day Nursery Committee held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, when Mrs J. McGill presided over a full attendance of members. The secretary reported that the number of attendances at the nursery for April was 515, that 118 mothers had used the mother's room and 31 extra dinners had been provided. Gifts of toys from the Junior Red Cross and from friends, of pillowslips from the Glentui home economics branch, and of vegetables from the Chingford allotment were gratefully acknowledged by the committee. Business dealing with the upkeep and maintenance of the nursery was discussed and arranged. At the thirteenth annual meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Waitaki High School Old Girls’ Association, held on Saturday afternoon, the president (Mrs B. Kirkland) occupied the chair, and welcomed 40 members. Miss Will, Dominion president, and Mrs W. Atkinson, delegate, were also present, and conveyed greetings from the Oamaru associations. Thirtyfour parcels had been sent during the year to next-of-kin of members serving overseas. It was reported that the membership had grown considerably, the total now being 91. A pianoforte solo was rendered by Miss Elva Hurndell. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patroness, Miss C. Ferguson; president, Mrs H. F. Sincock; vice-presidents, Mrs A. Pottinger and Miss W. Irving; secretary and treasurer. Miss A. Mclnnes; commiltee—Misses L. Sheppard, W. Patterson, B. B. Miller, N. Mercer, and M. Familton; auditor. Miss R. Burton; delegates to the Pioneer Women’s Association, Mesdames R. Duncan and B. Kirkland; delegates to the Dominion Executive— Mesdames W Atkinson, W. J. Davies, and B. Restiaux: delegate to Ex-girls’ Service Group, Mrs R. Duncan.
