ALL PURPOSES APPEAL

NORTH OTAGO’S ACHIEVEMENT FIRST TO REACH GOAL (Special) OAMARU, May 23. In a statement to-day the Mayor (Mr J. C. Kirkness), who is chairman of the North Otago Patriotic Committee, stated that the district’s full quota of £9275 for the All Purposes Appeal had been oversubscribed, and he extended to everyone concerned—subscribers, collectors, and office officials—his sincere thanks for a magnificent effort. North Otago this year, Mr Kirkness stated, was the first zone in thfc Otago province to reach its objective. There were still some subzones which, through local circumstances, had not completed their canvasses. When this was done the North Otago Zone would, as in past years, have considerably over-subscribed its quota. This objective having been reached and passed, continued Mr Kirkness, the district had now re-grouped its forces to attack the next objective of £240,000 in the Victory Loan campaign. The halfway milestone in this advance had almost been reached.
