TEMPORARY OCCUPATION ZONE
SAAR BASIN INCLUDED (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 19. Allied headquarters have emphasised that the Fifteenth Army’s occupation zone is merely temporary, pending later decisions, says Reuter’s correspondent. The American action in moving into the Saar will not prejudice the French claims to the area. An earlier message stated that the occupational role of the Fifteenth Army covers 14,000’ square miles in Germany, including the rich Saar basin, the Rhine Valley and the western half of the Ruhr industrial area.
