ISLAND OF ALDERNEY
REOCCUPIED BY ALLIES (Rec. 0.15 a.m.) LONDON. May 17. A British naval and military force landed on Alderney yesterday, took prisoner 3200 Germans, and reoccupied the island, which is the last of the Channel Islands to be freed. The liberating force found only one British familv the Germans having removed the rest of the island's 1200 inhabitants.
