BOARD OF GOVERNORS The annual meeting of the John McGlashan College Board or Governois W£fs held on Thursday, when there were present—Messrs T. C. Boss (hi the chiirl, A. C. Cameron, W. S. Giikison, J. D. Fletcher, A. R. Harris, C. G. Grey, the Rev. H. J. Ryburn, Dr J. R. Elder, the Rev. J. J. Cairney, Dr H. D. Skinner, Mr J. Ccnolly, and the Rev, A. C, S.anclage. Tile annual accounts and balance sheet were presented and adopted after some discussion. Mr Ross was re-elected chairman. and Mr Cameron vice-chairman. The following members, who retired by rotation, were re-elected:—Messrs T. C. Ross, A, M. Cameron, Dr J. R. Elder, and the Rev. H. A. Mitchell. The usual committees were set up for work during the ensuing year, and Mr D. Leslie was reappointed honorary auditor. The monthly meeting followed the annual meeting. The headmaster reported that the roll was increasing pnd would probably be larger next year. $ full report on the library was received, and arrangements were made for extensions. The board acknowledged gratefully the gift of a statuette of Capt-in James Cook, the work of Mr R. N. Field, who is leaving Dunedin. Letters of resignation were received from Major J. H. Kemp'hornc and Flight Lieutenant C. G. N. Johnston, both ol whom had recently returned from overseas ar.d taken up other teaching positions. The board also regretted losing the services of Mrs F. J. Turner and Mr D. G. A. Cassells. Mr G. G. McLeod, who has recently been released from the army, has returned to the college in the position of senior assis’ant and senior house and sports master. The headmaster reported that the Rev. O. T. Baragwanath had already commenced the teaching of Scripture throughout the c choo!. The board was pleased to learn that Mr Peter Riley, an old boy of file college, who recently returned from overseas, had accepted the position of medical officer to the college.
