ROXBURGH BOWLING CLUB
Sir—l have heard that the Roxburgh Bowling Club proposes to hold a bazaar to raise funds to defray the cost of the construction of a second green. At the Anzac Day service, held yesterday, the Mayor, Mr T. Waigth, in his opening remarks, intimated that it was the intention to build in Roxburgh a R.S.A. memorial hall, and he suggested that we should concentrate on that effort. I, with many others, was very pleased to hear him make that statement. It is up to us to show our appreciation of what our noble boys have done for us by erecting a hall that will be worthy of the sacrifices they have made, besides providing a building where they can meet and enjoy themselves. The Bowling Club should be able to construct this green without any outside help whatsoever. Will the secretary publish the credit that is held by the club at the present time, together with the annual profit derived from the tournament? I think this will disclose that the club should be able to defray the cost of the new green without any help. We are advised that the memorial hall will cost a tidy sum, and I feci that we should conserve our financial resources for that purpose entirely.—l am, etc., Roxburgh, Apl. 26. Lest We Forget.
