SUPPLY OF FERTILISER
LACK' OF LABOUR RESTRICTS OUTPUT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Mar. 22. An increased output of about 1500 tons of fertiliser a week for many weeks would be necessary if farmers' orders were to be filled before June, stated Mr D. N. Campbell, assistant works manager of Messrs Kempthorne, Prosssr. Ltd., in evidence before the Auckland Industrial Man-power Committee to-day. Mr Campbell was opposing the appeal of a man employed in the crushing department to be allowed to terminate his employment. “We haven’t an earthly chance of doing that by June with the present labour shortage,” Mr Campbell added. “ If we had a lot more men we could possibly do something about it” Decision was reserved.
