NORTH OTAGO CLUB Mr F. S. Milncs presided at a meeting of the committee of the North Otago Golf Club this week, there being a full attendance of memoers of the new committee. At the last meeting a sub-com-mittee was appointed to inspect army huts at Washdyke, with a view to purchase, for the purpose of establishing a professional’s hut on the links, but the floods had prevented this from being done. Messrs H. B. McDowell, S. Mawliinney, H. A. Murison, and E. Fraser were appointed a sub-committee to go into the question of the appointment of a secretary. The following sub-committees were appointed -Handicap, Messrs L. B. Debenham, E. McKenzie; match, W. V. Thomas, H. A. Murison, E. Fraser; Grounds, 11. B. McDowell, S. Mawhinney, IT. A. Murison; Social, R. Bradley, E. Fraser, D. Hume, H. Stedman, L. McClelland. The opening day was fixed for April 7, with a mixed foursome over nine holes.
Because of the shortage of golf balls and the heavy growth in the rough, it was decided lo shift the tees forward at Butts and Roadside, and to bring the ladies’ tee at the eighteenth into use.
There was some discussion on the question of rehandicaps, and it was decided to give the Handicap Committee full power in the matter, instead of requiring it to refer decisions to the general committee as formerly. Women’s Golf
