“TRANSIT HOUSE”

“ Transit House,” the home of Mr Harman Reeves in Park street, has been purchased by the Dominican Nuns for a hostel for women University students. From the time when the Dominican Order was established in Dunedin more than 70 years ago until about this time last year, when a school for deaf and dumb was Opened by the nuns at Island Bay, Wellington, the work of the Order throughout New Zealand had been confined to primary and secondary school teaching. This new venture is, however, in keeping with its traditions and follows a practice long established in ether lands. It is expected that the hostel will be available for students by the beginning of next year.
